Saw Shrink/doing good/Celexa 15/no jitter meds

No news is good news on this blog, and I haven't had any major problems. I went to the shrink, Dr. Sullivan, last Thursday (10/30/04). He's a major sweetheart and quite knowledgable, so it was a good session. Somehow I managed to make it fifty minutes too. I get preoccupied with cost and find myself trying to make the most of it, asking any little question I can think of. "Doctor, tell me how often should I water my plant?" Well, not that irrelevant but close. I told him that I thought I should try the Zoloft again, and he was fine with that. On a side note, he told me about Xanax XR, an extended release Xanax and gave me a sample script. I also got scripts for Klonopin and Ambien. I don't take Klonopin or Xanax much but do take Ambien. I feel as if I may be adjusting to the Celexa, though, so I haven't taken the step of switching to Zoloft. I'm holding off, thinking I may have adjusted better to the Celexa 15. I noticed a pattern from this blog of seeing my dad on the weekend and becoming upset, so I've been keeping a distance. I had a good date on Sunday that interrupted my Sunday pattern. I have a date this Sunday too, so I'm hoping for the best. I've been busy, and that's been working well, though bordering on not enough down time. My ex., S., is having a hard time with the break-up, so that has been sad. Work is very busy because school is in full-swing but I'm continuing to enjoy it a lot. I'm still undecided with therapy, though asking around. Thanks again for any friends and family and others who have been supportive. Thanks to any readers who check in, and thanks to anyone who comments as well. You are welcome to share your depression and anxiety in comments by the way or just talk about MEEEEE.

I'll let you know if I try the Xanax XR. I haven't needed it thankfully thus far :-). An alternative to Xanax that does not have the negatives you discussed is Klonopin. It's a weaker medication and much less addictive. I tend to use Klonopin if I have anxiety (it lasts about nine hours/ regular Xanax lasts about four) and Xanax is the "big gun" if I have a full-blown panic attack.

Hey, have you tried the acupressure "seeds" I wrote about in my most recent blog posting? Every time I press them, however, I feel kind of sleepy. Of course, I tend towards subclinical narcolepsy as it is. :-) But the seeds work well when I'm feeling super anxious, but not so great to be sleepy when I'm in classes and such. But I may continue to see how I do with the "seeds" for awhile. I'll keep you posted.

Paxil was my first in 1996, then I had a nervous breakdown and went on Zyprexa in the hospital along with Klonopin and Ativan. Zyprexa makes you overweight overnight. After varoius suicide attempts (1997 to 1999 were bad years), I went on Wellbutrin SR for depression and Ativan, Klonopin for Anxiety. In 2004, they took me off Ativan and put me on Seroquel 25mg 3Xday/PRN and Seroquel 100mg at bedtime (works to keep mood stable and helps with sleep) and Neurontin 300mgx3 at night (for aggression and disturbing thoughts of aggression).
I am pretty happy with my meds and I get a good med review every year when I break down around March and go into the hospital for 72 hours. Anxiety is my biggest demon and then depression. I was diagnosed with BPD in '97 and they say as you get older, the symptoms subside (which is true-I was a nut case at age 22 and now I am pretty normal at 40). Arg, I can't believe I am 40...maybe I will say I am 38. :-)
